’doubleaf’ was composed in summer of 2010 as a part of a project for young composers and architects. In this project composers had to choose new buildings in Budapest, and write pieces in connection with them. The building inspired this string quartet-piece is a strange, asymmetrical water-tower designed by Tamás Perényi. I transformed the connections, relations of the ground-plan and sketches of the tower into musical connections in different ways. The basic principle of the formal structure is the question of symmetry and asymmetry. The nearly the same two parts of the piece should be played separatedly by other pieces, as two performances of the same piece.

The piece was played by JACK Quartet at the Ostrava Days Festival (2011).
