Anima Musicae Contemporary Music Workshop

Anima Musicae Contemporary Music Workshop

Debute concert of the Contemporary Workshop of the Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra in the Nádor Hall.

In September 2013 a workshop has started with the orchestra, focusing on interpretation and understanding of contemporary music. Péter Tornyai was asked to lead this workshop. The aims of these occasions were to learn about the way of thinking and technics of composing in the 20th and 21st century,  to deepen the theoretical and practical knowledge about this aera, and to come (and also to bring the audience) closer to the values of the contemporary culture.

The borders of these workshops led by Tornyai are wide; they did detailed analysis of various pieces, just as music games and group improvisation. The results of this cooperation will have long-term benefits – the aim of the debut concert is to give the audience an insight also into this part of the orchestra’s work.

At this special concert the audience will hear and experience interactive elements, and “old music” in relationship with contemporary compositions; e.g. the Hungarian premiere of a 110 years old  piece.

Compositions by J. S. Bach, H. Purcell, A. Schönberg, Ch. Ives, György Kurtág, László Sáry, Marcell Dargay, Dániel Dinyés, Máté Gergely Balogh and  soundpainting live-compositions.

Performing: Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra (artistic director: László G. Horváth), conducted by Péter Tornyai
